Masonic Temple Open House for #2!

This past October we opened up our Masonic Temple to the public and we had a great turnout.  Families, friends, and curious onlookers took a tour of the temple and got a little education about Freemasonry.  Thank you to everyone who came out - we hope you enjoyed the Phoenix Masonic Temple. 

Another Great Outdoor Degree!!!

On October 14th, we had our 2nd annual outdoor degree for the lucky brother Carlos Santo!  Congratulations Brother Santo on being Raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason! 

Blue Room Restoration halfway done!

Brothers, it's an exciting time to be a member of Arizona No. 2 as we invest our dividends of blood, sweat, tears and money into the restoration of our temple.  The ceiling is done and work as begun on the carpet, tile floor, walls and lighting!  In just over a month the work should be complete and we'll have an exciting "Grand Opening" to celebrate all the work.   Check out some of these pictures and stay tuned for more to come!

Things got a little hot at Lodge last night......at least related to the chili that was!  Congratulations to Junior Past Master Tom Mich who won the 2017 Arizona No. 2 Chili Cookoff!

Last month the brotherhood gained another member when brother Christos Michalides entered into the craft on Tuesday, January 24th 2017.  Congratulations brother!

A Masonic Gem discovered at the Arizona State Archives!

The Arizona State Archives are located at the corner of Jefferson & 19th Ave in downtown Phoenix.   It is free to get in and do research and some of the collection is available online at - Phoenix. https://www.azlibrary.gov/arm/research-archives
      During my time researching today, I found a few interesting books related to Masonry in Arizona.  But perhaps the most interesting book - was a copy of the Arizona No. 2 bylaws for the year of 1885.  This was just 6 years after our Lodge formed under the grand Lodge of California. This is the oldest Copy I have ever seen personally.

Vice President Marshall Helps Lay Cornerstone in Phoenix, Arizona

In October of 1915, Vice President Thomas R. Marshall was made the Grand Orator for the Grand Lodge of Arizona for a special occasion. In this capacity, he would give an address at the cornerstone laying of the new Trinity Episcopal Church in Phoenix. Services were led by then Grand Master - George Alexander Bridge. The Grand Lodge and other bodies assembled at the Masonic Temple and then, formed a procession up to the location of the new church at First Avenue and Roosevelt street in Phoenix where over 1,000 spectators gathered. Two articles about the cornerstone ritual appeared in the paper - one article appeared in the Arizona Republican On October 29th, 1915 - 2 days before the ceremony which was to take place on October 31st, 1915. And another, in the Arizona Republican on November 1st, 1915 the day after.

Brothers- thank you to everyone who came out to the family picnic this past weekend.  Check out the photos section on the website for all the photos from the picnic.  Brothers, friends and family came out and it was a big success.  We will be doing some kind of social event every quarter so we hope to see you next time!
