George Luhrs - Arizona No. 2 Mason
Masonic Trivia: In the late 1860s, 31-year-old wheelwright George H.N. Luhrs immigrated to the States from Germany. After living for years in the booming gold mining center of Wickenburg, Luhrs in 1878 moved to the new hay-growing center to the southeast, a town called Phoenix. By 1884, he owned some of the most valuable real estate in the fledgling city, including the block where the Luhrs complex now sits on the southeast corner of First Avenue and Jefferson in downtown Phoenix. In 1887, Luhrs and his partner took over the Commercial Hotel, an inviting courtyard-style building on the northeast corner of Central and Jefferson. (It later became the Luhrs Hotel.) The Luhrs name continues to be one of the leading family names in the development of Phoenix Arizona. The Patriarch George H.N. was the first Master Mason raised at Arizona Lodge #2 Free and Accepted Masons. Thank you Gila Valley No. 9 for posting this trivia on Facebook!!!!

Stand Tall Brothers
Words from Grand Master Craig Gross:
"I have chosen as the theme for my year 'Arizona Masons Standing Tall'. I ask all Masons, from the youngest Entered Apprentices who stand in the northeast corner of the Lodge, to the Worshipful Masters who preside in the East, Stand Tall at all times, wear the love of the Fraternity on your sleeve, and be proud of who you are and what you belong to. Share openly with all those around us the true meaning of the Craft." 2018-2019 Grand Masters Pin below.
